Male Bonding
"Endless Now" by Male Bonding
Review By: Frank Makri
Male Bonding’s sophomore LP, entitled Endless Now is released 15 months after their well-received debut, Nothing Hurts. Fans of the band will be pleased to know that the new album stays close to the bands punk roots. The album is not as much a retread as much as it is the bands choice to further declare what they are good at: making visceral, energetic punk rock.
Never the less, there is one difference between Endless Now and Nothing Hurts. Producer John Agenllo helps the band carry out their goal of moving away from a lo-fi sound that was somewhat apparent on their first record, and move towards a more clear sound that puts their loud sound to the forefront. The 1-2 punch of “Tame the Sun” and “Carrying” will get your foot tapping to the bands tight sound and melodic hooks. Endless Now proves that instinctive music that hits you and gives you a thrill is just as important, if not more so important than the next record that explores a whole new different sound. Enjoy the rousing ride that this album offers. This band will be around for a while.
