27 Rue De Mi’chelle sounds more like a carefully orchestrated symphony rather than just an album. Effortlessly romantic, Carrousel, led by Joe Piedt combines ghost like vocals with delicate strings for an eerie take on lost love. The whole album became more astonishing when I found out this is Carrousel’s debut album. Each song is momentous but together the tracks make an even stronger album. “14,” the second track builds what is to come in the album and “Where Do We Go From Here” in the middle of the album is the strongest track that manages to be both epic and subtle in its delivery. The album drifts into despair with “In Her Tomb By The Sounding Sea” and “Take Me Now.” Culminating with “27 Rue De Mi'chelle,” the album ends with Piedt’s acceptance of his lost love, Michelle. This Tallahassee dream-pop group is sure to produce more stunning works in the coming years.
